How to claim free games on itch.io

On itch.io, indie developers sometimes make a paid game free for a limited time. The store also has plenty of games that are always free; we only list paid games that went free. See what’s live on our itch.io page.

Step by step

  1. Create a free itch.io account or sign in.
  2. Open the game’s page. During the deal, the price shows as free or 100% off.
  3. Use the download or claim button and choose to keep the game in your account (claim).
  4. The game stays in My library, so you can download it after the deal ends.

Good to know

If you only download the file without claiming it, you may lose access to updates. Claim it to your library.
